Don Brown - Steel City Bassmasters Tournament

Don Brown took 1st Place and Big bass in the Steel City Bassmasters Tournament held April 18, 2009 on Lake of The Ozarks. Don weighed in a 5-fish limit that tipped the scales at 17.51Lbs and was anchored by the Big Bass of the event weighing 5.38Lbs. That was enough to push him into 1st Place. He reported catching all his fish tournament day on a ¾-Ounce E-Factor Lures Spinnerbait, chart/white with Diamond Cut willow leaf blades, from the bank to about 8 feet. During his pre-fishing he tried wiggle warts, jerkbaits and shaky heads but could only get that quality bite throwing the big E-Factor Lures ¾-Ounce spinnerbait. Don concentrated his efforts during the tournament ¼ to ¾ of the way back into coves fishing the transition banks that went from chunk rock to pea gravel. He was fishing water with temps from 54-58 degrees with a mild stain. Only 7 fish were boated throughout the day but he was on a quality bite that was needed to get the 1st Place spot.
